New Gigs, New Hopes

Good Evening Good Friends!

I've had some good news over the past month. I expanded my career search to include technical and performance textiles...with success! I'm in the middle of a couple of very intense interview processes and am remaining optimistic that I will be able to begin my professional career by September (fingers crossed!).

In the between time, I am also pursuing opportunities for extra income. One of my most exciting endeavors is to expand my passion for pets into a profitable experience. Check out my Paw Prints Website!

Wish me luck!

Keeping current, keeping busy

Hello my dear blog community!

It has been another exciting couple of months. This post is just a quick summary of some of the most exciting things I've been up to in the automotive, textile, and design worlds.

In addition to my pet care business, the past few months have presented me with opportunities for freelance and part time work within my discipline.

One of these opportunities includes creating conceptual artwork that an automotive textiles supplier plans to use as inspiration for new designs.

I have also been working with my former professor, Vita Plume. Vita is a Fibers and Surface Designer, and a world-renowned weaver. She recently recieved a grant from the North Carolina Art Council to produce a body of work. I have been assisting her as a weaving technician on the College of Design's TC-1 Hand-Jacquard loom.

Additionally, Vescom America has invited me to join their Product Design team. I will primarily be assisting the team with hands-on screenprinting. Vescom is a leading developer of interior products for the international market. This primarily includes vinyl and textile wall coverings. They offer sustainable, anti-microbial, and high fashion designs for all interior spaces. I start with Vescom and look forward to learning more about the company and product. Please check them out: http://www.vescom.com

Staying current and networking have been my keys to success. This month, I was able to do both by attending the Inter-Society Color Council annual meeting. The ISCC was founded in 1931 with the goal of advancing the knowledge of color as it relates to art, science, and industry. The council provides the unique opportunity to combine experts from each discipline. Far too often artist, scientists, industrial researchers, and academics do not get to interact. I find these relationships interesting and valuable, as presented in my thesis research. It is important that each area works with one another and can "speak the language" of each group.

2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet

2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet was revealed on Wednesday (17/11) at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The car is promoted as “the world’s first all-wheel-drive crossover convertible”. Nissan promises that the all-new CrossCabriolet can provide an open-air excitement and new improvement of the Murano’s versatility for the passengers.
CrossCabriolet is spacious for four passengers. There is also a place for luggage and golf bags. And the car’s interior is designed in a premium level. In early next year, 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is scheduled to be available in the market. A correspondent, Paul Lienert, hopes that the company will keep CrossCabriolet exclusive by selling the car in limited units.

DVD Player, Car Styles

There are many different DVD players, car styles to choose from. Many newer model cars already have at least one unit, some more, built right into the back of the forward headrests, or in the ceiling that pop down at a touch of a button. Why are there so many and what are they good for? Well there are many different advantages.
Some of the reasons why people have DVD players car units are because they are families with smaller kids. Many parents with children under twelve know what it’s like to go on a drive, whether it is short or long. Children get bored really easy, and when they do, they like to get into trouble. It’s not that they are doing it on purpose; it’s just that a trip can be long and boring. Even their favorite toys or games can get boring, and so they start pestering their parents with ‘are we there yet?’ ‘I have to go to the bathroom!’ or any number of different things to get attention.
Having DVD players car models can eliminate many of these problems, and give your kids hours of entertainment. They can bring along their favorite movies, or TV programs, and watch them over and over if they like. One of the nice features about these players is that many come with wireless headphones. This way, even if you can’t stand the show they like, you don’t have to listen to it. If they want to play the same thing ten times in a row, you don’t have to worry about it driving you crazy. It keeps them quiet, and entertained the whole time you are on the road.
There are other advantages to them as well, even for older children. Many of these models have input jacks, so they can be connected to portable gaming systems. While older children have a little more self control than younger kids, they still get bored. Having a DVD player with gaming hook ups can help your teen age children keep from getting bored as well.
When it comes to buying DVD players car models, you really have to look around. While there are some local retailers that sell them, your best bet for price and selection is to go online. There are an abundance of websites to choose from. Some of your local retailers even have online stores, with better selections. The advantages of local stores with online annexes is that if you find something you like online, you can have it shipped to your store for free, and pick it up there. This means that if for any reason you have to return it, you can just go into your local store to do so.
There are some things you need to keep in mind when it comes to car DVD players. One of them is features. You want to find one, or more that have features like remote controls, wireless headphones, and even gaming connections. Then you also want to find ones that are easy to install in your vehicle, without having to go to a professional and get them installed. They should have easy to follow instructions for mounting, as well as hooking up the power supply to your vehicle’s 12 Volt system.
